What Are COVID
Resilience Skills?

COVID Resilience Skills™ are research-based exercises that anyone can learn easily. They are simple, specific methods that allow you to notice your own stress response moment to moment, and skillfully respond to calm your mind and body, enabling you to make wise choices
The Resilience Skills Practices include:
  • Physical movements that are accessible to any body or any physical ability or fitness level
  • Breathing exercises
  • Guided attention exercises
  • Psychological tools to increase your emotional reserves
  • Kernels of info that empower you to better understand why you, by virtue of being human, respond to stress the way you do.
COVID Resilience Skills™ training is based on the simple truth that stress, if not fully processed, finds a home in the body. Research shows that the relationship between the brain and body is interdependent and powerful.  This relationship is intuitively reflected in the English language: “it makes me sick to my stomach,” “just thinking about it gives me a headache,” and “it’s heart-breaking,” just to name a few. When stress accumulates, our body tells us so in its own language of “dis-ease.” As a result, we may have an anxiety or panic attack, neck and back pain, sleep too little/sleep too much, bowel disruption, gastrointestinal issues, obesity, high blood pressure, exhaustion, acne, or an autoimmune disorder, among other ailments.
The good news is that, when properly supported, including regular practice of tools from the COVID Resilience Skills™ toolbox, our brain and body know how to heal. With practice, the brain and body can shift from its old ways of responding to stress to new, more effective ways that are far more flexible and resourceful. We learn how to read our body’s signals and respond to them with more awareness and care.
It really comes down to treating our body with kindness, compassion, and skillfulness; the growing capacity to give ourselves what we really need to thrive. This relationship builds more competence and trust in our own ability to take good care of our mind, body, heart, and spirit.
